In their synagogue was a man with an unclean spirit; he cried out, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are-- the Holy One of God!” Jesus rebuked him and said, “Quiet Come out of him!” - Mk 1:23-25

The poet, Dorothy Gurney once wrote: The kiss of the sun for pardon, The song of the birds for mirth,-- One is nearer God's heart in a garden Than anywhere else on earth. Suzanne Aubert, who loved gardening, wrote: “What do we do in the garden? We dung, we dig, we rake, we hoe, we sow, we water, we clean up, we spade, we plant, we pluck the weeds, and finally we gather, after God has given the increase… Let us go there in union with the Sacred Humanity who worked harder than we, and who ceases not to work mysteriously in the garden of our souls. For Jesus in the Eucharist is the Divine Gardener par excellence… Let us then try well to work under this Divine Gardener in the garden of our hearts, by working well in our earthly garden.” If you enjoy gardening, you’re in good company. If not, you can admire the work of others and pray with St Francis, our patron: “Praised be you my Lord, through our Sister Mother Earth, who sustains and governs us, and who produces various fruit with coloured flowers and herbs.” Keep enjoying the summer, Fr Maurice.
